Shoehorn
2015年、自動車業界がこれまでの全体的に丸みを帯びたボディ形状から、エッジの利いたボディへと変化して来た時代。Hacoaも丸みを帯びた形状の靴べらを販売していました。
そんな時代性を捉え、自動車のようにエッジを利かせ、シャープなフォルムを追い求めることで何が生まれるかを探求し、改良した靴べらです。
スタイリッシュに仕上げると共に、エッジを利かせることで、手にした時のバランス感や持ち易さ、手に触れるだけで裏表が分かるようにデザインしました。
一本の木を立体的に削って作ることは、とても高度な技術と知恵を要します。機械だけでは削れず、手仕事だけでも作れない形に挑戦し、試行錯誤の末、作り上げた力作です。
Shoehorn
In 2015, the automotive industry had been changing from a generally rounded body shape, which used to be the mainstream, to more angular body.
At that time, Hacoa sold rounded shoehorns.
However, capturing the changing times, we adopted a more angular approach, like these luxury vehicles in the design for our products. By exploring what would be born from an angular style, we improved the shoehorn.
The design is not simply a style thing, but also using the edges creates a sense of balance and an ease of holding when picked up, so that you can feel the front or back by just touching it.
This long shoehorn is made by cutting a tree in a vertical direction and then shaving it out three-dimensionally which requires great skill and wisdom.
We tried to make this form, which can not be created by machine or hand alone, and it is a masterpiece created after much trial and error.
